In the early works of the project Memory and Blindness the mainly figurative representation prevails and as the project developed the artistic exploration of the cartographic and linguistic signs finally took prominence. If This Is a Man (2000-05) is a tribute to Primo Levi. The serie Caput Mortuum (the name of a colour on the painter’s palette) is an artistic investigation based on the image of the head of a dead man. The paintings Mauthausen’s Memorial (2004) and Memory and Blindness (2005) are the predecessors of The Names, the series on the writing of the victims’ names.
