The Border develops an artistic investigation into the map of the border between France and Spain. The research focuses on exploring the expressive possibilities of gesture and line as a seismographic movement or the flash of lightning. This cartographic sign establishes a threshold and a boundary, a space of transit that regulates the migration flow of the citizens subject to the ups and downs of history. The artistic investigation and historical knowledge become an ethical and political reflection: the sign is transformed into a crack, a cut and a suture, visual metaphors of the wound and the scar in the memory of the exile of Spanish Republicans who had to cross this border at the end of the Spanish Civil War.
