In the series Lager the pictorial investigation focuses on the map of Ebensee concentration camp, a satellite camp of the Mauthausen network in Upper Austria. Located amidst a magnificent lake and mountainous landscape very close to the thermal area where the Austrian aristocracy used to holiday, Ebensee was one of the worst Nazi work camps. Its main objective was to provide slave labour to dig enormous tunnels in the mountain. At present this place is inhabited and has been urbanised with Alpine style private houses in an idyllic setting surrounded by fir tree forests and where almost all signs of historical memory have vanished. The aim of this series is to artistically restore the memory erased in this deadly space of exception.
